Hi, i have seen many engines that are very similar to Empire engines, here is an example

It is an unmistakable clone of an Empire B-30, but a different brand, and i think there made in the same place that Marvin engines were made, these are also made in a different place than Empire engines. So were these sub brands owned by empire, or brands simply copying the design?

Per Don Stilson's Book on Empires...here are the brands they manufactured for and co-labeled with unique ID tags:
Empire Metal Ware Corp.
Harvey Electric Co.
Empco Metal Ware Corp.
The Bing Corporation
Quality Brand Great Northern Mfg.
Chicago Apparatus Co.
Empire Transformer Co.
Central Scientific Co. (CENCO label)
