I see it is this special time of remembrance again for those who gave so much to provide the blanket of freedom that we walk under today. Here in the USA we have veterans day on Nov 11th and Memorial day on May 31rst.

Lest we forget!, it's the only forum i've ever known of to honour the fallen. What a wonderful sentiment.

Our young admin has always made sure we marked this special time since the formation of our forum.

We are proud to honour the tradition.

Good to see the forum wearing it's poppy with pride!

You can even donate online - wear a virtual poppy too!

Thanks guys, but really, it's a cause I feel genuinely very strongly about.

I think the Royal British Legion is the most worthy charity around. I hate the thought of our dead being forgotten, and our living being forgotten too. There's so many ex-servicemen and women who cannot even afford food or heating. It's such a shame, and is enough to make anybody feel sick. That's why I always wear a poppy with pride - whether it be on my suit at school or on my flat cap at home.

Maybe it would be nice to have a charity fund raiser online, with procedes going to the above mentioned charity? Just a thought

There's an old farmer down the road, in his eighties. I remember when I was 13, (the crazy amount of four years ago), reading a poem from a tea towel which was hanging on his pantry door. I loved it. This year when I was at one of the shows, I found a RBL stand selling them. I had to get one to hang in the living van. The poem goes:

The Inquisitive Mind of a Child.

Why are they selling poppies, Mummy?
Selling poppies in town today.
The poppies, child, are flowers of love.
For the men who marched away.

But why have they chosen a poppy, Mummy?
Why not a beautiful rose?
Because my child, men fought and died
In the fields where the poppies grow.

But why are the poppies so red, Mummy?
Why are the poppies so red?
Red is the colour of blood, my child.
The blood that our soldiers shed.

The heart of the poppy is black, Mummy.
Why does it have to be black?
Black, my child, is the symbol of grief.
For the men who never came back.

But why, Mummy are you crying so?
Your tears are giving you pain.
My tears are my fears for you my child.
For the world is forgetting again.
