I have a chance to buy a very small compressor for not a lot of money, apparently it outputs upto 60 psi at 20-23 L/min. Is this enough airflow to turn a SR1 over [ I have my doubts about that small amount of air]?---

Your SR1 will go like the clappers on that much air.
I use a very small compressor from a dehumidifier, like a fridge compressor but half the size.
It will run any of my engines.

Mamods run at around 15 psi so the compressor will cope.

Offhand, I would say that that will be plenty of air fro even the largest of engines. 23L per minute is almost half a litre per second, which is more than the capacity of most toy steam engine boilers. So a whole boiler-full of 60psi air every second? I'd say that's more than enough. Post some pictures.

Geoff, I would put a regulator on your compressor, 60 psi can do untold damage to a toy steam engine.

I didn't think that you could run a small engine so slowly---

I wouldn't be without my compressor.

It's just so handy for lots of things.

That one looks just the job.

Wow! Nice find Geoff - seems like an ideal compressor for toy steam engines.

In the second video, you were controlling the speed using just the regulator on the compressor?

I'm quite impressed - and they are only quoting $25 for shipping to Singapore.
