Another thought is to look in a fishing tacle shop if theres one near you- they have moulds for various fishing weights- one of them may do for the moment. There maybe an online source for that as well, but do be careful, moltern lead is still HOT

i got the denatured alchohole
is there any good technique or do i wet a paper towel and start scrubbing

I would heed Dampfzauberer warning before attacking the paintwork.

Meths = Denatured Alcohol.

Why?

These old paints on german engine were ALL meths-base paint.
(modern paint is based on nitro or whatever)
So the solvent for this paint was meths that days...if you again take meths for cleaning, it will take off all the paint!
