Hello guys,

here I want to show you my Wilesco D161 which was made in about 1999. It is basically a D16 with lineshaft plus the M51 drilling machine, the M52 grinder and the M53 circular saw. The boiler has got a volume of 250 ccm and the flywheel has got a diameter of 80 mm. The base plate has got a size of 340 x 420 mm and the machinery is 280 mm high. The cylinder is double acting, so you can run it forward or reverse. It is one of the two workshop engines that Wilesco produces at the moment.

But now it's time for some pictures

Let me know what you think.

Greetings Dennis

Thank you Klaus
A few weeks ago a D161 was selled on eBay for about 150 Euros.
It was almost 20 years old (when the quality of Wilescos were better ) with the old bakelite hand wheel.
Old, but never used... so it was still NEW

Greetings Dennis

How did you manage to keep it in such a nice condition?

Tips please?

You never stop learning so I ask in case there is something new there.

In such a nice condition?
Well, the flywheel and some other things aren't as shiny as new and the boiler is a little bit corroded on the edges.
I got this engine when I was 7 years old

So, I can't give you may good tips^^
I simply care for my things, especially for my steam engines.
It hadn't been run quite often when I was younger, but now I steam it up at least once in the month.
The most important things are:
Always use destilled water, oil everything, drain the boiler after using and clean everything, so it doesn't rust etc.
And leave the the machine without safety valve oder whistle on the boiler, so it can dry out.

Greetings Dennis
