Although a little late for my Birthday, this is the present I bought for myself, A stevens Model Dockyard 'Large dribbler' Locomotive built in 1890. The loco measures 20 inches long by 7 inches wide and is 4 1/2 inch gauge. origanlly it was coal fired but at some time it was converted to burn meths, the fire crate was removed and a meths burner put in its place. It is filled with features, including a lever type safety valve, water level gauge, whistle, firedoor, water gauge tapes and forward/reversing gear. The smoke box door opens to reveal the water tube boiler, steam line and exhaust pipes. A fully working regulator is also fitted. The twin cylinders are double acting made from cast metal and fitted with working crossheads The buffers are spring loaded.
Retailed in 1890 for £25.00 it could also be purchased with a tender, the whole loco measuring over 30 inches long. Like all dribbler locos it could be run on the ground without track.
I am very very pleased with it, although I will not fire it up, it's only for display now
Now all I need is some SMD track!!
Sitting in the late evening sun
The smoke box door open showing the water tube boiler and steam lines
One very happy Steamman !! _________________ Collector of vintage steam engines, toys, musical boxes and antiques since 1998 |

Man, where do you get these engines from?
They sure knew how to make nice locos back then
Great thing to have!
Did you tested it on air?
(Maybe you want to make a rolling stand for display/running purpose?) _________________ Regards, Mirko |
