Its got a certain charm about it Manx
It would have looked stunning when new
With its red livery and polished brass...............
I wonder if it would be possable to run the photo
Through photoshop to get an idea off what it would
Have looked like originally

Now that is a great idea. Not a clue how to do it but didn't Mike do a purple Mamod TE at one time using that sort of thing.

Mike.... any chance you could give it a go? Is it hard? Would it take a long time?

If you email me a good, well lit engine Ill see what I can do. Problem with this one is tonally all the surfaces are the same colour. Give me an idea of what should be red too!

The roller was easy as its quite straightforward to 'isolate' areas of colour to be 'treated'.

Thanks Mike. I'll do a 'well lit' pic at the weekend. It would be nice to have an idea of how this engine would have looked new.

Nice one Manx, I like it.

Along with others here, I'd simply leave it.

Painting for me would be out of the question, and I wouldn't risk cleaning it apart from a dry soft cloth for a wipedown.

It's about 80yr old, and has a hell of a lot of charm.

But only my opinion.

Personally, in this case, I think it is in such a sad condition that I would go the full hog and try to restore it to it's former glory. the only other alternative would be to leave it strictly as is - not even clean it.
