Hi all,
Just joined today after finding your forum looking for information on a Mamod SE3 that I bought on Monday.
I found it at an Antique fair and as it was a similar type to the one I had as a kid and was offered at what I thought was a reasonable price so I decided to buy it.
I suspected that the whistle was missing some parts as it did not look like the earlier twist valve or the later beam type that I knew of.
When looking on Ebay for a replacement I discovered that it was genuine and was the rare push-button type and later after a bit of Internet digging found out that it also had the rare screwed crank.
Tried it on air and it runs beautfully but the boiler needs a bit of cleaning up as it is covered with what looks like water scale.
I will have to carefully look at the restoration pages before doing anything to it.
Photo,
My main interest is 5" narrow gauge live steam and I have a Sweet Pea and am building a Hunslet Quarry tank. I also model H0 scale North American with DCC control.
Oh the price - £25 ( talked down from £30)
Regards, Colin. |

Hi Colin and welcome. You got a bargain there. The whistle alone could cost almost that much _________________ Regards
