|
|
Hello guys,
in this thread I want to show you my recently bought Wilesco D365 “Old Smoky”. This steam roller was the first mobile engine that Wilesco introduced in 1966. Back in then, with some modifications, it was called D36. The advantage of the Wilesco steam rollers and traction engines is, that they are very versatile. They can of course drive and pull something, but can also be used as a stationary engine to power accessories via a drive pulley next to the flywheel. Therefore they have a gear drive with a clutch lever on the left side of the control stand.
They kettle has got a volume of 230 cm³, standardly fired by an Esbit-burner. The cylinder is double acting and can run in both directions. It’s the twice biggest cylinder that Wilesco produces and is also used in the D14, D22 and all the other mobile engines for example. The flywheel measures 80 mm in diameter. The weight is about 1.9 kg and the whole machinery has got a size of 320 x 150 x 200 cm.
But now, it’s time for some pictures:
In the next days I will fire it up for the first time and then I will also make a video, so stay tuned!
Edit: Here's the link to the video: Wilesco Dampfwalze / Steam Roller D365 "Old Smoky" - Video

Nice choice.
I fitted mine with the R/C and a gas burner.
I love it, my cats hate it. LOL _________________ Stitch

Great photos of a great engine. I only have two Wilescos in my collection, and the Old Smoky is one of them! Enjoy getting to know it! _________________ Rog

Thank you guys!
Today I've fired up the engine for the first time, the sound and of course also the fun with it is great
I hope that I can start filming tomorrow, let's hope that the weather (and thus the exposure inside) will be better.
