Thanks for the ideas Mike and Mike...just one more question. I assume the two pipe exhausting to the chimney are for forward and reverse.
If I wanted to simplify things, could I just put in one regulator valve on the forward and settle for controlling speed in that direction? In reality, I am not likely to be concerned with it going backwards anyhow, but WOULD like to slow the forward motion to a more scale speed. I would do it tastefully, but not kid myself into making it "original" looking...it would be a re-design of sorts to make it functionally more useful...full stop.
Thanks Tmuir on the thoughts about beating the 2kg limit for Royal mail. My only concern would be that whoever was selling a given piece via eBay NOT bugger it up trying to get the weight down. It reminds me of receiving on engine with a boiler full of very expensive water!!!!!!!
Again, thanks all...food for thought.

I think that might of been Chris not me that gave advice about breaking an item up for post.
I too have received an engine with the boiler 1/3 full of water.
We are a bit short of water in OZ but not that short we need to smuggle it in inside toy steam engines. _________________ http://www.freewebs.com/ozsteam/index.htm

Finally got a picture of the screws guys!
All four are like this, the holes are quite small, smaller than I remember on Manxmans Nut and Bolt. I don't even think the normal brass bolts would fit in there
We need more of these to compare with _________________ Solid Fuel tablets explode

They dont look like Mamod screws MM, are you sure it hasn't been taken apart before? tell tales signs such as marks where tools have been used, loose pipes etc? They look as if someone has had a go at them with a screw driver at some point. |

All pipes, rivets are totally original. Nothing has been messed with either . The holes are pretty small so like I said, not sure if the others would fit. When I got it, I didn't think it had been touched for a while anyway
It's never been dismantled more than I have taken it apart to clean as far as I can see really not sure what to think. But they seem to be doing the job!. You can't get the chrome out without drilling those brass rivets, so those screws serve no purpose until that has been done. It would be more believable if one or two were missing, but all four are the same.
So I don't know... I need to see more! _________________ Solid Fuel tablets explode

A bit late catching this one.
You have really worked your magic on that TE1 MM.
It has the same early box graphics as Dauntless' TE. Has it got the "ribbed" wheels too?
A nice find, good one. _________________ Make time to take a step back, and appreciate what you already have. |

MM,
Is there any writing or any other clue's to the engines age on the box?
Looking at this TE1, it has got to be one of the first made.
Just shows all the early sign's _________________ Make time to take a step back, and appreciate what you already have. |

Well, unless we find "Walter" we will have to keep guessing _________________ Make time to take a step back, and appreciate what you already have. |

I'd like to tell him off for writing his name on the box and the boiler of the TE1 _________________ Solid Fuel tablets explode
