I'm glad you enjoyed that Roly, the engine is a masterpiece, and what fun to operate with all those levers.

What an awesome piece of machinery.  If that was built in 1892, it has been exceptionally well cared for, looked brand new!

Hi, Miles,
The engine is ticking away quite and nicely but there are the annoying hissing sounds of the oilfireing of the boiler . I must admit that the engine itself is a real masterpiece !

The "White Fleet" of the River Elbe is  the pride of the german vintage Riverboats !

cheers Joe

Wow Miles, that's incredible!

That monstrous masterpiece offers all the subtle artistry of a really fine old pocket watch, but on a truly majestic scale!!!

That was a great video. I didn't realise there were oscillating engines still in use.

The electronic telegraph is just a little disappointing, the real kind of telegraph is a nice looking thing in an engine room, but I suppose there's some kind of regulation or other that makes it necessary.

The engine itself is beautiful though.

They  modernized the "White Fleet" over the years but kept all vintage machinery in working order as far as I know.

cheers Joe

Thank goodness these paddlers run at a nice low pace--there are a lot of levers to joggle!!

Nice hypnotizing rhythm.......

Even the eccentrics have counterweights. Certainly an engineering masterpiece.
