That's not quite clear. When Forbes bought it for $28,600 in 1983 (then a record) it was described as 'believed to be the only one in existence' -- which of course isn't necessarily the same as the only one made. It dates from 1912. I saw it a number of times. Pretty neat as you might imagine

Here's a description:

The deck of the boat, finished in faux wood planking, includes such realistic features as a working anchor and chain and an electric (dry cell) motor in the hull. Measuring just over 37 inches in length, the toy was designed to be a realistic replica of the Cunard liner and included a foremast fitted with a searchlight and crow’s nest, as well as a bridge with stairs, an observation post, four funnels, and more than two dozen ventilators of various shapes and sizes. Small cutouts in the hull reveal sections of the lower deck and also add to the realism of Märklin’s design.

Thanks Angus, when I lived NY I use to go to Forbes museum all the time and look at those boats for hours!!!
I'm still all tore up from them selling that collection...
