my friend has a steam engine and i offered to post it on here so that he can find out what make, model number and the year it was made in. he would also like to know how much one of these would usually fetch on ebay. if you don't mind having a quick look at the picture below, could somebody give me some information on it. it has a BW logo on it. i think this is Bing Werke but i am not too sure. although it has the whistle, it has a small hole in the top of it, i assume this is for a safety valve? if so, has anyone got any ideas as to where i could obtain such a thing?

It is, indeed, a Bing and it looks suspiciously like my 130-812 from 1914.

I paid Ģ55 for mine on Ebay in 2005.

German Ebay is probably your best bet.

Sometimes the older BING engines have threads that are similar to the modern WILESCO ones and therefore a replacement SV from Wilesco does the trick when an original one isnīt available.

Are you looking for a pop off valve that is the original or just one that works? If you figure out the thread size you might find one from another model that will work and maybe one that they still make. Just a thought.

Double check the size as I have Bings with completely different size safety valves.

I have dealt with them several times without experiencing  any problems.
