I've been fooling around with another tram engine, built around all those spare Mamod loco parts that accumulate when you start upgrading.

Starting with a new set of frames
Photobucket
I wanted to make sure all Mamod and aftermarket parts would be compatible
Photobucket
Then I thought I'd try to build two side by side, one using standard parts and the other with uprated parts.
Photobucket
I'm using the design as you go syle of engineering.
Photobucket
The boiler mounts and fire box will fit a 1 1/2 inch dia boiler, standard or upgraded,
Photobucket
and mounted directly to the platform.
Photobucket
Once the boilers are mounted and piped to the cylinders, I'll work out a body style, or two

Now it's off to the cabin for a weekend.

Cheers,
             Bill

That looks very promising: The uprated boiler is not out of place on any mamodification I suppose !

cheers Joe

Thanks for the encouraging words guys.
I'm sketching up some ideas for my fireboxes and intend on doing some layout tomorrow after I scrounge up some tin.
They're going to be pretty simple in design, so they shouldn't take too long.

Cheers,

Gary, I've been using a small CNC on some of the parts, hand tools on the rest.

I cut up some boiler mounts today, here's the Sawmaster in action
Photobucket
Anyway I made four boiler mounts this afternoon, here's what I ended up with.
Photobucket
If I get a chance tomorrow I'll bend up some tin to enclose them and fasten them down.
Photobucket

Now it's time for a coldie.

Cheers,
