that's it i think i have finally lost it.

if i have not got enough projects on at the minute i have had a Einstein moment and decided to start making a proper condenser.

The idea behind this is to seperate the oil and steam via a trap, then take the steam into a cylinder where you have a filled coil of water (the condenser.) Which is connected to this.

this a basically a car heater matrix, you pump the hot water through the heater matrix thus getting cool water back as the fan blows over it. so 1. you get nice warm air (yum yum warm hands on them cold steam days

) and then condensed water you can pump back into my steam engine.

will it work probably not but i am going to give it a dam good try watch this space.

Could also be a nice source of indirect heat to keep the gas tank warm on cold days - to link to another thread I was reading earlier.

This is going to be an interesting project.

The only downside I can see is that are you confident that all the oil is going to be separated from the water and you have oil free water going back into the boiler?

Very interesting idea, if you are going to recycle the water back into the boiler from what i have read on the Morris lubricant website compound steam oil is no good and you'd have to use a straight oil, whether that is true i don't know. However it still may be possible to separate it out but you saw how bad steam oil is last night at APS.
