My base was a little different from yours on the outer edges and said Vision Eng. on it.
I would not be too concerned as Historic Steam Models was the maker and Vision was the
marketer for a few years or something like that. Mine did say HSM Division of Vision Eng..

Thats a beautiful engine you got there! Has it been steamed? Very elegant engine indeed.

Raj, it has been steamed by the engineer in the UK who assembled the kit and once by me along with a few times on air. It now resides in California. _________________ Steam on,

Hi Raj, and welcome to the forum.
Like Gil's, my plant has Vision Engineering on the base plate. The model number is 272.
I have been unofficially advised that only about 300 were made so I'm a little surprised to see a serial #of 527.
Here is a picture of mine, which is complete in every respect:
Mine came complete with drawings, tools and assembly instructions, so I guess it was also built from a kit. Good luck with this project.
If you find you are missing any information, please do not hesitate to contact me. I'll do whatever I can to help. _________________ Richard

Thank Richard.
I must commend you on yet another beautiful and intricate museum specimen. It looks like the earlier batches were made by vision engineering.
Here is a weblink on a 2005 circa York Bolton Steam plant. The serial number is 364. The one I got was made in 2009.

They were in business from 2000. So averaging about 50 - 60 kits a year - I guess! There are some minor differences in the engine. However, as I looked through the pile of documents sent by the seller, I am fairly convinced this is one of the last kits they made. There is an email document from HSM to the previous owner with specific modified instructions on how to attach the piezo igniter due to a difference in lead length as supplied by the manufacturer. IN addition there is the original packing slip supplied by HSM to the seller. So this is clearly a genuine kit. I am indeed one of the very lucky few to have gotten this kit.
Thank you for the guidance and advice. I shall definitely have questions as as work on this kit and look forward to your tips and suggestions!

Yes, it never ceases to amaze me how much knowledge is held by this forum's membership. And even more amazing, how quickly the responses are posted . _________________ Regards,

As I sifted through the documents, I did not come across a boiler certificate. Does anyone know if the kit version came with a boiler certificate?
Thanks

Well, apparently no boiler certificate with my kit! I called the local fire department and it is a Class A misdemeanor to operate a boiler without certificate. So I would have to get it certified. I have the template of the cards in the drawings - I am going to magnify them and print it and lay the parts over them so that my life would be easier! Here are the first batch of parts....

Good plan, making your own cards. They will be a big help.
Shouldn't the seller provide the boiler cert.? _________________ Steam on,

The seller should have probably provided it - but he does not have it. I am glad I got the kit - so I can make do without it. It costs $25 to get the boiler certified. And besides I shall have peace of mind having gotten it done myself. I bought the horse - I might as well buy the horseshoe.... |

please inform us as you progress, it should be quite an interesting project. I do not know which State you live in but am curious about how you go about the certification too. _________________ Keeper of Southern Indiana...
