Hi Wallace,
Just out of curiousity, where does one find Termite Mesh and is it made of something that would stand the flames? I might want to use something like that on a few other experimental burner ideas I would like to try. _________________ Visit IndianaRog and The Temple of Steam: www.indianarog.com |

I want some termite mesh too but dont know where to get it, well I havent really tried to get it yet.
It will stand the flames Rog as its made from stainless steel.
We have tough termites in OZ. _________________ http://www.freewebs.com/ozsteam/index.htm

Fantastic burner Rog - a work of art!
I found out a while ago that the vent hole serves a couple of purposes...one of them is to prevent a vacuum building up, but on the other hand it relieves pressure as well when the meths warms up and starts to turn into gas. I found this out at my cost a while ago - for some reason I plugged the venthole on one of my Bowman burners, and the expanding meths pushed out most of the contents throught the burner tube - the result was a very pretty but very hot fireball.
A similar thing happened on a Bowman train a while ago (not mine) and the resultinhg fire was so hot it instantly unsoldered the cylinders from the portface blocks. _________________ Stands the glass half empty,

Hey Odilon,
If I recall you had some sort of fireball almost consume your Arrow due to plugged vent hole in burner tank. I suppose all the toy steam makers figured that stuff out long ago when making their burners, but we get to discover the wheel again...flaming wheel!!
cheers,

Rog, you should be able to get it from a building supplies place, hardware store etc etc.
You know the mesh on "flyscreen or security mesh" doors. Even though it's made of plastic of fibreglass, that is the fineness of the Termite Mesh.
As Tony said, it's made of stainless steel. The tradename is Termimesh
Hope that helps _________________

Fascinating read that Great Panjandrum. Goal for my project is to keep the flames IN the firebox and not igniting the benchtop _________________ Visit IndianaRog and The Temple of Steam: www.indianarog.com |

I needed some small gauge stainless mesh for my garden water feature.
Bought a 50p tea strainer from my local supermarket. Perfect!
