I know they are just toys and I know they are not made to any scale...but approximately what is the scale of a TE1? I could be worked out from say the diameter of the back wheels if I knew how big they are on real TEs.
Reason for asking, I want to make some loads to go in the trailer, and would like them not to look too silly. _________________ Chris

They are the same size in comparison to a 16mm scale loco I feel. _________________ Si

| I have a Mercer and a TE1A sitting one above the other on shelves, looking at them the Mercer is just slightly bigger than the TE1A, so the Mercer is 5/8 scale so I would recon the TE1A is around 1/2 scale but someone out there will know for sure! |

Meaning 1/2" to the foot? So 1:24 ish.
That would mean that MTA's thoughts are similar being 1:19 ish.
Thanks guys. _________________ Chris

Real traction engine wheels are typically about 5' so I'd say about 1/17 or 1/18. Certainly somewhere between 1/15 and 1/20. _________________ Regards

Great, seems all the replies are in the same area. Anything I make I will try and make look right at about 1:20 then it will look right for either the loco or the traction engine.
It is just going to be some boxes or crates and pallets to start off with, but I didn't want to make something that in real life turned out to be the size of bungalow! _________________ Chris
