Hi Everyone!
My name's Laurie. I've been into model steam for around 15 years now. I started collecting and building when I was single- I had quite a few items, ranging from modern Steamco's, Kookaburras and Wilescos through Mamods and Weedens.
I also had a couple of homebuilt engines and boilers, and a PM research 2A.
Loved them all.
Then came marriage.
Then a house.
Then another house.
Then my collection had to be sold. Damnit!
Then yet another house.
Then, my beautiful baby girl arrived.
Then came a divorce.
Then, life got a whole lot better for me!
I'm slowly building up my collection again, starting with my 2 all time favourites- a Wilesco D16 and a Jensen Model 65.
Both were bought new, and I've since got a few Stirling models as well.
It's great to be back in the hobby, back then there was no such thing as a forum like this ( not to my knowledge anyhow), so to fing this place was awesome.
Anyway, enough drivel from me- It's good to be here!
Laurie. |

Welcome from Perth Western Australia.
Shame you had to sell the Kookaburra as they aren't made any more and they don't come up much second hand.
There are only 2 of us that own one.
One of those is winging it's way back from the UK to OZ and the second one is mine.
Enjoy your time here. _________________ http://www.freewebs.com/ozsteam/index.htm

Hi Laurie, and a big Scottish welcome. It's great to welcome another Ozzy friend.
Now that you've joined us, you'll find that there are never enough engines for a collection.
I look forward to chatting with you. _________________ http://www.sandmansteamshack.co.uk/

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for your warm welcomes.
I'm not sure how to reply to individual posts, so I'll try to do it here.
Advice and pointers very much appreciated- I can drive almost anything mechanical, but computers always seem to beat me!.
Regards,
Laurie. |
