Thanks everyone

Next up, both of my bigger traction engines.  Both are Maxitrak designs and are built by Accucraft.

The video of the Burrell isn't as good as I'd hoped as I forgot to tighten the grub screw that allows both rear wheels to be powered.  As such it slips a bit on the grass (I'd also set the power to exactly the resonance frequency of the chimney, which is why is sounds a bit odd) . I also wanted to show the blowdown at the end.

You've seen this before but I've put it on you tube as it seems to play better than photobucket.

I only own 2 stationary engines at the moment and here's one of them.  A Wilesco D21.

I really like Wilesco engines and this one didn't disappoint.  In fact the only thing I don't like about Wilescos are the pressure gauges so thats why I haven't fitted one to this engine

It looks good against the grass and it certainly goes well.

A typical strong performance from the D21.Wilesco pressure gauges are pretty poor quality.

These Wilescos can really knock out the revs and the power.

They've really surprised me.

Great video.

Dave you have an amzing Traction Engine collection and it just kept getting better as I got further into it.

Right in the beginning I loved the Mamod Samson and the Mercer then the rest just blew me away.

Next up is my SE3.  Recently aquired from Philip (Swift Fox) its a superb engine that runs very smoothly.  I was supprised just how good the quality was both in terms of built and running ability.

I also noted how big (to me) the meths burner is.

Upon firing the engine I noticed how big the flame was but was also fascinated to see that it also perfectly demonstrates the Coandă effect (see flame in pictures). This effect is fundamental to flight as well as many other processes and I thought it was a nice crossover between steam and my interest in aviation.

I also tried fitting the whistle from my 3 1/2" gauge "Robroy" locomotive with mixed success.  I finally got it to work by blocking one of the steam outlets with kitchen roll.  The whistle is really designed for higher pressures.
