I took some stills today of my modified TE1a with reduced gearing and a fully exposed boiler. There was some interest in the details so I took some pictures of the details.

Glad you like it.
I often buy the basket cases and 'box o bits' with a plan in mind. Sometimes they get restored or, if too far gone, get remanufactured into something new. These are a lot easier than a restoration because there is no right or wrong. As you can see with the screws holding the chimney on. You can't do that in a restoration.

It addresses one of the things that bothers me most about the Mamod TE range.

Max, that's a very interesting modification, perhaps we could christen it a 'Maxification'. I do like the way you've replaced the scuttle, with a full firebox. Do you have much of a problem with slippage of the bands, or does the lower gearing, actualy help with this issue.

The 'gearing' certainly slows things down a lot.

Cheers

Chris
