, No Bob a tow line bin!! But it also could pass for a miniature dance floor too!It is a peculiar feature to me as well- but it is featured in the drawings just like the queer round skylite towers fore and aft- a departure from the older more familiar type _________________ Lagniappe readily offered and accepted,

A little more steam pipe work tonight..also a small super heater for the stack as steam heads towards the engine. It may seem odd to have the S Heater turned upwards- but as this boiler has a fed tube for the boiler refill circuit running right where I need to go- I went with that any extra heat was better than NO extra heat on the way to the engine. I hope that I am right.
Note - the steam lines will be lagged and should cover some of the bumps in the liens..The hardest bending to date with 2 sets of compound curves
A little frustrating
Pressure gauge in place too!!

I think with all this plumbing the Alien would be right at home around it

I was thinking a bit on the movie "Brazil" in that regard, but your plumbing does look well thought out and efficiently routed. Nice work for sure!!! _________________ Are we having fun yet?

While I was lagging, coating in CA glue and then painting in high temp white the steam line --my mind wandered to "circuits" or systems represented in the boiler alone.
If the category term is incorrect- I apologize right off.
What I mean are things like:
Safety- SV
Water level monitor- site glass
Pressure regulation- attenuator
Temperature preservation- Boiler lagging insulation
Refill circuit
Steam dryer
Steam feed- Globe valve and line
Pressure monitor- pressure gauge
Exhaust handling - stack for unused burner and exhaust output
Burner circuit
This all may be painfully obvious but as I have worked through problems and layout details on each and every one of these- I had to tip my hat to how complicated this little "still mildly basic" boiler is.
I do not have electronic water level sensors, engine driven boiler feed pump nor electric motor pump, a whistle, a blown-down valve, or pump bypass circuit, nor is it a flash steam boiler with many a wonderfully complicated relationship with a high volume feed-pump. Boggles the mind when I think about it like that .
Ok back to reality. Paint is dry
Time for the SV cover and line that will be banded to the smoke stack. I prefer to see over pressure release where I can notice it ASAP and respond accordingly. It will be nothing more than a cap with a pipe that leads to the stack

Pressure gauge location and routing reworked ( it is now visible with the superstructure in place through the rear engine grating), lagging all painted, stack repainted, a the SV blow off pipe turned on the lathe and soldered pipe in place.
Also made the last small exhaust pipe to the condenser. Only a return to the stack left to do...
Good Night Irene

Ahhh, there lies the rub dear Mr Duck...I abhor people, mannequins or dolls on my boats. Dolls and small folk kind creep me out.
My boats are destined to wander aimlessly with no crew or passengers. A Twilight Zone episode of sorts I guess _________________ Lagniappe readily offered and accepted,

You could always rename her "Mary Celeste"
By the way, I wholeheartedly agree. Even in model railroading, I have problems trying to place people into the scene. You have a dynamic model populated by static figures ... creepy. It's just not right.
Now there have been a few situations posted on here where the man at the helm has some appropriate motion himself, and that is definitely better in my mind, but still not quite right somehow. The problem may just be with me though!?!? _________________ Are we having fun yet?
