I have made a mock up base for my Jensen 76 and it will stay on here for a few weeks until the Mahogany base is done,i still have to do the cut out for the flywheel and attach the fire box to the base but it has been a fun thing to do on a grey and dull sunday arfternoon.

What brand is that glossy VHT paint on the boilerhouse/smokestack?
All i seem to be able to find here is some with very little if any gloss at all

Were kind of hoping to get a hint towards a manufacturer

Scalex, that is looking to be a fine upgrade to a Jensen 76!
Jan, at least in the US, their IS a brand of high temp paint that is called: VHT (very high temperature). I believe VHT are owned by parent company Duplicolor. The VHT paint is not inexpensive, but the best at flame heat resistance of a number I have tried.
VHT is available in most auto parts stores here and sold in a few colors like black, red and blue (gloss)...meant for auto brake calipers and manifolds. Interestingly, those are different paints with the brake caliper version offering very high temp resistance yet relatively low oven curing temp and time required for curing.
I like the brake caliper version of VHT for situations where I don't want the oven curing temperature to melt soft solder that might have been used in the part I am curing...which could lead to bigger problems. This lower temp/curing also permits doing a second curing cycle which I like to do to ensure the paint is properly hardened.

' VHT' just stands for 'very hot temp ' paint.
You can find similar very high temp paints with gloss in your local hardware shops sold as Barbacue/grill paint.

Know that Kenneth...but only in black where i live...
I were interested in a brandname/manufacturer to get access to the other colors, without having to pay the price the professional auto paintshop use to charge me for a little bit of theirs...

Wouldn`t hurt... I got the same recommendation when i put my 75 on wood and do believe that only my extremely controlled fire in the burner when steaming it has kept the lacquer from crumbling...inside the boilerhouse its all cracked and crumbled after only 3 runs even if it hasn`t seen the real hot burner yet

sorry i forgot to mension it will have section of the original base with the burner holder under the fire box i knew there was something i forgot to put in the first post |

That should work very nicely.
You may also want to put a thin sheet of insulation (asbestos or more modern type) between the sheetmetal fire tray holder and the wood.
It will look really sharp when you're done!
