Any loco outside the U.K. in my view is improper, unless its been built in Britain |

At Amberley, we have a loco from France, and our phrase is "If it ain't British, dont fix it!", so it never gets fixed in a hurry, and it NEVER gets cleaned |

All fine stuff, however the shadow cast by the sheer excellence of the GWR locos does somewhat put them in the shade. That said I do like Bullieds. |

Sorry Chuck, but I'm always wary of 'foreign objects' I like the fine lines and precision engineering of British locos, but to me the American steam locos are 'aline' and not very eye pleasing. It depends where youve been brought up! |

You do realize, of course, that I only meant to stir a chuckle with the above!
I'm sorry, MTA, but I'm too ignorant regarding trains and feel myself unworthy to offer fair debate. I grew up with the American trains, old steamers with cowcatchers, etc., so when I see the Brit locos with those two push bumpers on the front it seems odd. You are right, about what we grew up with.
What is "aline" referring to? I don't know what it means...
Cheers,
-Chuck |

Sorry Chuck, I take things too seriously in my old age Fine lines means all the nice curves, paintwork and general appearance Sorry Mike and Lewis, the GWR and LMS are great companies too Both have their merits. The GWR had powerful locos, with a simple yet attractive livery which still appeals to this day The LMS was probably the line that all the suppliers used to ship freight and goods over the U.K., as they had really powerful locos which looked and sounded good |
