I picked this beast up yesterday, it's a 1 1/2 scale Hughes design Royal Chester Allchin. It had a good oil and clean yesterday afternoon and then a run on air this morning. I have placed my Maxitrak Allchin next to it so you get an idea of scale. The lubricator needs looking at but otherwise it seems sound. I'm looking forward to starting her on coal. ( I did take some better photos yesterday but they won't attach ( I think it's because they were airdropped from my phone sometimes the forum doesn't like it)

That's a fine looking traction engine, one question, why did they paint the flywheel brown?

I don't know why Les unless the original Royal Chester prototype had a brown flywheel- I'll google it. I do know that a duck egg blue colour was also used on the flywheel rim. The paintwork will need some attention at some point but she's not for the show table she's gonna work, I need to build a trolley next.so I can ride around!

Thanks Mark, it's certainly going to be a learning curve quite different to a Mamod!

Thanks Jan, I'm pleased to say that Edward will be helping me fix the lubricator (and anything else that crops up) but as soon as she's ready to run on steam I'll find a way to record a video.

The pressure gauge goes up to 150, I would guess around 60, worked well on 30 with air.

Anyone else have one?

It doesn't have one yet Les, the boiler seems sound (its copper which helps)?but it was bought as a project, so we'll see. I wouldn't have been able to afford it otherwise.
